ATARI 2600 JOYSTICK DROP IN NEW & IMPROVED REPLACEMENT CIRCUIT BOARD. by comodoreKazz
As you all know metal dome contacts in most Atari 2600 / 8 bit computer joysticks will go flat with decades of normal use, or boards need the contacts cleaned causing potential controller issues.
From the mfgr: "I made an improved drop in replacement circuit board that uses tactile switches precisely centered and installed. Now I also cover the switches with an additional layer of Kapton tape for better wear and less switch failure when the handle insert is worn and or improperly aligned."
In most cases it does not require trimming, cutting or filing of the original white plastic handle insert**
**Note - If the plastic insert handle is broken, bent or exclusively worn.... this may not fix your controller issues. You may need to replace or 3D print a new white plastic insert also. Worn handle inserts WILL damage the micro switches.
It is designed to fit the CX-40 Atari brand joysticks only.
*Not the older CX-10 models with the black plastic plate and springs or 3rd party controllers.
"I used super low profile C&K tactile switches that match the depth of the original snap domes in both height and feel. They are rated for 1,000,000 cycles ..... which should get you through a few games of Yars’ Revenge!"
